St Andrews War Memorial

The memorial commemorates the residents of St Andrews who were killed in the Great War (First World War) World War I - 1914 to 1918 and World War II (Second World War) - 1939 to 1945.
Set into a recess in the fence of the ruins of St Andrews Cathedral was designed by Sir Robert Lorrimer in white granite (1864-1929), the architect of the Scottish National War Memorial at Edinburgh Castle. The memorial was unveiled on 22 Sep 1922 by Field Marshall Earl Haig O.M K.T C.C.B. Commander in Chief of the Expeditionary Forces in France and Flanders 1915-18.
