The Aberdeen War Memorial
The Aberdeen War Memorial, Cowdray Hall, Scotland, Schoolhill and Blackfriars Street, is the City of Aberdeen's
memorial to the fallen of both World Wars.
Designed by Dr. A. Marshall Mackenzie and Son.
The lion sculpture was designed by William MacMillan, A.R.A. who is also recognised for designing the World War I Victory Medal.
It was sculpted in Kemnay granite by lead mason James Philip, assisted by George Cooper.
The memorial inside Cowdray Hall commemorates the residents of Aberdeen who were killed or missing in the
Great War (First World War) World War I and World War II (Second World War), and other conflicts.

The granite lion sculpture was unveiled on 29th September 1925
when King George V
opened the new Cowdray Hall and Art Museum.
