The memorial commemorates the residents of Kirkcaldy who were killed in the Great War (First World War) World War I - 1914 to 1918 and World War II (Second World War) - 1939
to 1945.
The memorial was built in 1923, manufacturer by John Nairn and was unveiled in 1925 by Admiral Lord Wester Wemyss. A memorial to those lost in World War 2 was
unveiled in 1958. A plaque has been since added for other conflicts including, Palestine, Malaya, Nth Ireland and Afghanistan.
